Mastercam in a time of lawyers and disclaimers

Sad, funny or just the times we are living in, it seems like everyone have to spend more time looking over there shoulder than looking forward.

MastercamX3 added a disclaimer when opening a second instance that have resulted in some confusion among users.

Disclaimer is all it is, nothing have changed and that is alright. If you have issues running 2 instances of MastercamX3 at the same time it is most likely your system that is the cause, I have had 3 instances open on my “Commodore 64″ alike system at home without problems.

To add some clarification, as Mastercam has grown, it uses more systems resources, as do all CAD/CAM related programs today. Mastercam still runs each part in a single session, unlike other CAD systems which can run multiple parts in multiple windows within one session. The disclaimer was partly added as if you're crunching a large program and trying to run several sessions, you could possibly bring your computer to it's knees. I have been an advocate for the multiple windows in a single session but this does not appear to be in the offing.

  • Thank you for your clarifying that John, I like the idea about multiple windows in one session, but in my daily experience I find Mastercam runs very stable with multiple sessions open. Probably not going to change until we are the “Y” interface.
